My name is Lorin Juliyana, also known as Julia for short. I was brought up in Abu Dhabi for about 16 years and completed my 21st year in Sri Lanka. My dad, Ajith Perera, is a mixed material artist for more that 20+ years and has been working in famous starred hotels, worldwide. My mom, on the other hand, is a lovely lady who has worked as a Crèche coordinator in various schools including the Brighton College, Abu Dhabi. Adding more colour to our family, I have a 16-year-old little brother named Kevin Julian.
I was educated in Merryland International School in Abu Dhabi, which runs in collaboration with the Cambridge University in UK. I completed my IGCSE O/L examinations back in Abu Dhabi and was rewarded with pleasing results. Moving on, while on my gap year to my secondary education, I joined the St. Andrews Thrift Store and the Brighton College for some volunteering. Moreover, I also conducted tuitions classes for kids of lower grades.
I completed my A/L examinations in the Mahinda Rajapaksa College in Homagama under the bio stream. During the most deciding years of my life, I also engaged in various activities like compeering, drama, dance and my all-time favorite hobby, singing. As I grew up in a very creative background, media and arts happen to blend in almost where ever possible. My father and I always had rehearsal sessions on some meaningful announcing and also some melodies from those late artists. My mommy however has a vast knowledge of cooking and culinary. She has always mesmerized us with her areas of taste, adding each ingredient with a lot of love. Her familiarity of international dishes has brought us tastes of worldwide cuisines in to our dining table.
Growing up in the guidance of two amazing souls with lot of creative minds has leaded me in to a world or colors and imaginations. Being a Bio student at school, I did think of being a doctor. However, my interest in media, writing and public speaking has overtaken the idea on being a doctor.
Again after my A/L in MRC, I took up a job at The International Institute of Knowledge Management as a conference secretary. There I have created connection with many dignified personalities around the world. Moreover, I did get plenty of opportunities to add more details on my compeering note and handle many conferences on various aspects.
In my free time I spend a lot of time doing DIYs and helping with the cooking. Meanwhile, I do focus writing, reading, singing and also gardening in my free time.
